Quick Write 3: Powerful vs. Powerless

For anyone, there are times when people feel powerless. When they feel powerless, it's like when they feel like they aren't capable of doing something, such as accomplishing a goal. But people also feel powerful. When they feel powerful, it's like when they feel like they are strong and successful. For me I have felt powerful and powerless in times of my life. I remember when last year I went to my great aunts house and she'd asked me how were my grades doing everything containing school. At that time I was struggling with understanding the work and turning it in. I had told her that I didn't have the confidence to get help from my teacher because I didn't want to hold back any students that understood already for a period of time. She told me that I should have the confidence in anything in particular because I am the future. As this generation, what we do now determines what happens in the future. Meaning that we can control what can happen for the next generation to come. When she said this to me it made me feel powerful because it lets me know that I have the power to change anything and that no one can tell me different. Times when I feel powerless is when my parents or any adult in particular tells that I can't do something or have a say that contains for my life. Usually, goes to really saying that my opinion doesn't matter because to them it doesn't mean anything. When people do this, it makes me feel like I'm not worthy or capable to do anything. It gives me the hesitation to even demonstrate on how I feel. Especially when loved ones tell you this, it really brings me down and makes me think what's the purpose in trying.

Quick Write On: Like A Girl

What is the worst stereotype you see affecting our world on girls? Is it affecting you? Why is it so bad? I personally think that all stereotypes on young girls and women affect the world because to me it seems like it's trying to convince the world that we are not capable. That we aren't capable of being successful or strong minded and even helpful. I believe we are thought like this because maybe humanity might be afraid of what we can become. So they make us feel insecure about our choices and ourselves. It affects me that people think this way about me and my own gender because it's to far beyond insulting and judgmental. It feels like someone is looking at the outer part of me and takes it in to think about my flaws so that they'd "predict" that I'm not capable. They don't know my core. Not knowing how I really am on the inside is what starts these stereotypes. I love this quote by William Shakespear, "Though she be but little, she is fierce.", because I think its phenomenal and it characterizes all females in the world that we are capable of anything and be strong for anything.

Holocaust Movie: Life is Beautiful

In the movie, Life is Beautiful, it was about a boy named Joshua who shared his holocaust story. It went from how his parents met to how he was a survivor.  Between the movie and our Holocaust Unit document reading they both share events like the Night of Liberation. They also both have similar actions like targets going onto train rides to the concentration or death camps, killings of false showers (gas chambers), survivors rescued by Americans and were sometimes reunited with people they knew, seperations from family, and death physically shown around the camp.

Between both the movie and the reading, they're very different but also similar. I consider that they're both serious topics but the movie is like a family movie and the reading is something you need to read after that fact that'd you've learned about the holocaust. In the movie it shows how a family was created to how it ended in separation. The reading tells how that individual was currently suffering and how all the people around he/she was the same reacted the same. The things they'd have in common was that family members and friends did whatever they could so they can get out or stay alive with people they kneweven if it did cost the heroes life. They also have in common that there was peace and happiness before there was destruction.

In the film it shows that life beautiful by showing how people used to live their live happy before transformation for destruction had become. Like when the mother and father had met and had a boy. In the movie it also shows how after the Germans had retreated from camp, the American and other soldiers came to rescue. These two examples from the movie shows that life is beautiful because it's at a time where life was okay for everyone before and after tragedy had happened. It also shows how life is beautiful because it shows how life can regain the happiness they've lost.
